What happens when you finish the game, does your character just disappear of do you get to just travel around helping people, and PVP

Yes, your character disappears and your account is automatically suspended.

OFF COURSE NOT! Think about it for a second.

The game doesn't end when you reach level 20 and it doesn't end when you've done all quest and all missions. You can continue to collect xp, skills, items, weapons until you have unlocked every single thing in the game. (And by the time you think you've completed it, ANet will probably have added some new content.) And there's always PvP.
